I am a nationally recognized business litigator, neutral, and former United States Magistrate Judge handling complex, high-stakes disputes—bringing judicial insight and broad litigation experience to critical inflection points. Clients and courts rely on me for practical judgment, disciplined case management, and clear, decisive analysis informed by experience on and off the bench.
PRIVATE PRACTICE EXPERIENCE:
Prior to my tenure on the federal bench, I was an equity shareholder at Carlton Fields. Following judicial service, I returned to Carlton Fields as Of Counsel. I am a member of the Business Litigation, National Class Actions, Mass Tort and Product Liability, and Labor and Employment Practice Groups, and co-lead of the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution and Neutral Services (ADR+N) Team.
I represent national clients in multiple industries in complex business and commercial litigation, multidistrict litigation (MDL), class actions, product liability actions, non-compete agreement disputes, insurance disputes (including representations and warranties insurance (RWI) disputes), real property disputes, arbitration proceedings, and large-scale litigation management — including sophisticated e-discovery matters.
I also serve as a mediator, arbitrator, court-appointed neutral, mock bench exercise facilitator, and private judge.

Florida-licensed since 2001, with admissions spanning the full breadth of federal practice — including the United States Supreme Court, all three United States District Courts in Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and several other federal appellate and trial courts. JUDICIAL SERVICE:
As a United States Magistrate Judge, I presided over a broad range of federal civil matters, including complex commercial disputes, class actions, discovery-intensive litigation, and dispositive motions. My responsibilities included:
- Managing cases from filing through resolution
- Resolving high-stakes discovery disputes and e-discovery issues
- Conducting settlement conferences in complex cases
- Issuing reports and recommendations on dispositive motions
- Working closely with district judges on case management
I continue to provide services as a private judge with the consent of parties in state court litigation under Florida's Voluntary Trial Resolution (VTR) statute, Fla. Stat. § 44.104.
THOUGHT LEADERSHIP & PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT:
I am a frequent speaker and author on issues at the forefront of modern legal practice, including federal civil procedure, class action litigation, judicial decision-making, e-discovery, mediation and alternative dispute resolution, legal ethics, legal technology, access to justice, and professional development.
I have served in numerous leadership roles within the organized bar and received national, state, and local recognition. Most notably, I served as the 2025 Chair of the American Bar Association Business Law Section — one of the largest and most influential bar organizations focused on business law in the world, with a membership exceeding 30,000 legal professionals globally.
